97 F150 4 by 4 trouble after ABS activation

My rear ABS activated this morning and now my pedal is all spongy with lots of travel. Brakes still have OK stopping power though? I bled the whole system and nothing changed. Any ideas?

was it ever bled dry? there is an abs valve that if it goes dry will flip and personally i would take it to a qualified mechanic to have them fix that if that is the problem. i dont mind working on brakes but abs is a differant ball game. have you have your brakes replaced or anything recently? #1 cause of sponginess is air in the lines. or maybe even your brake booster vac hose is cracked or not on all the way. after driving for a few min stop the truck and hold the brake down if it starts out at one level and starts going down father and farther you more then likely have a leak at the booster. could be hose or the booster itself.

Nope, Fluid is fresh. The truck has been maintained very well and has 85K on it. I have read some other posts about this and it seems that maybe now my brakes are "normal" for a F-150?
