After four years the Goodyears on my truck have finally worn out and it is time for a replacement. I have found a set of 2001 lightning wheels I would like to upgrade to but I remember reading that there is some type of possible interference with the braking system. I tried search but couldn't find anything. The truck is a 2001 4x4 SuperCrew.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

They fit like a charm. And they are ok for off road and 4X4. Here is my '01 4X4 SCrew with Nitto Terra Grapplers, 285X60X18.

 

I have the L rims on my Screw also with Hankook Ventus Rho6 285/60/18's

 

Pickwickbum - I have had my L wheels on since Dec. 2000 and have never had any problems with the brakes.

Are you sure you are not talking about the turn stops that need to be added so that the wheels will not rub on the brake line bracket??

I guess I had read about the turn stops. Is that something I just need to add when I put the new wheels on? If so where can I purchase them.

Yes, you will need to add them. If you do not, the bolt that holds on the brake line bracket will dig into the inside rim of your wheel and will knock off any tire weights that might be there. Others have modified the bracket which has worked too.

Do a search for "turn stops" - I wrote up an install thread a while ago.

Well I finally got the new wheels and tires and what a difference they make. However, when I was putting on the front tires I could not find the turn stops. I'm sure I just wasn't looking in the right spot.

Not sure about the 4X4 thing, but in the description for the turn stops I do remember it stating "for all non-Lightning F150's". I am sure they were probably referring to 4X2 models though.
