Think I am done

I think I am done looking for what wheels and tires combo I want for my 2005 STX 4X4 Reg Cab

Tires - 275/70PR17 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R
Wheels - 17x8 Helo - HE791 MAXX8

Need thoughts on what it will look like on my truck. Is that tire wide enough for a 17x8? I dont like the rim hanging over the tire look. With a 275/70PR17 I shouldnt have any rubbing issues right? I also need to know what backspacing for my truck. Will these wheels and tires go past my fenders? I might have to buy some fender flares

Sorry about all the questions just dont want the wrong thing put on my ride.
Thanks

going to look very good, and yes, you should have plenty of tire to hide the lip of the rim!

here's my Ranger on 285/70/R16's

EDIT: those are 16x8 rims.

why not go with the 285, just slightly bigger but same price.
I had these MT's on my last truck, great off road, but a little loud on the highway, also had some uneven wear but that was prolly my fault, as I didnt rotate when I was supposed to.

Will 285 fit with no chance of rubbing? Thats why I want 275, I want to be 100% sure of no rubbing. If 285 will fit maybe I should go that way.

I am 99.99 percent sure that the 285 will fit without rubbing,
There are several people here that run them with no problems.
But, yours is an 05, which is where my .01 percent of doubt comes in.
There are others here who can elimanite that .01 percent though.

As long as it a 4x4 the 285 will fit fine, some even run 305's. But thats a extremly tight fit. Go 285's you won't be dissapointed.

sorry for the double picture post, but here's a 2004 with 285's:
my buddy's f-150 with my old ranger: (both trucks on 285's)

I recently aquired this set of wheels from him to throw onto my truck as i've had some bad luck with my stock 275's.

I had the smalelr 245 MT/R's and just got rid of them yesterday in fact. Great tire and they wear great when rotated. I had about 50,000 miles on them and got them with 3,000 already on them from a friend who bought a Rubicon. I rotated religiously though. He has the 35" MT/R's and isn't experiencing the great wear that I did, but different vehicle, different driver, and much different size so any of those could be a factor. Overall though I think that they are an awesome tire and that rim/tire set above should look fantastic. Post pics when done.

re

Definately go with the 285/75/16,, it will fit no problem on a 4X4..I ran this set up for a year before i lifted my truck with the bfg mud terrains and many people on here are doing the same....It will look a lot more rugged..
