Wheel Swap

I have a 98 XL 4X4 with the original steel 16" wheels. A friend of mine offered me the 17 Alloy wheels from his 2001 XLT with the Off Road package. I went to put them on and found the hub size and bolt pattern correct, but the lug holes and his lug nuts were bigger. I also noticed putting my original wheel back on that the holes are a bit bigger than the lugs, and since the nuts are flat instead of tapered they went on in a slightly different place. My question is, will I be OK if I use the alloy rims with my original lug nuts?

You should be fine if you use lug nuts for your year model truck.
