**** Cepek/Mickey Thompson Tires

Anyone tried the FC-II tires from **** Cepek? I've been running the BFG A/T for the last few years on my trucks but just saw a set of these at the local tire shop. I'll be putting 285/75/16 back on again.

They look like nice tires, I believe that Wandell had said he read an article in one of the off road magazines and they had given the FC II good marks. I looked at them before I bought my BFGs, they are high $$$....

All the tires are big bucks, but for once these ones are less than the BFG's. I'm thinking of grabbing them before the dealer changes his mind on the price.

If you can get them for less than the BFGs I would buy them, they look great and like they would get very good all around traction...

I've only got about 3 or 4,000 miles on mine so far, nice street manners, pretty quite, I've only been offroad in sand but with no problems at all. I'm running 33x12.5x17, real happy overall, my only complaint is a little scar on the sidewall, no major damage, don't know what I might have hit to cause it but it is realy a non-issue just the first layer of rubber not too deep.

Went and got the tires put on this morning. First thing I noticed was the soft and smooth ride they have. Mind you, the old BFG's were down to the wear bars and, besides needing balanced, I could feel every crack and tar line in the road. They look gnarly and have very little road noise at highway speed. I'll keep you posted should I notice anything out of the ordinary once I get a few clicks on them.

Here's some shots of the new tires. Took me forever to get the gallery open and post the pictures. Well, now that it's done, easy to do again.
I got some more highway miles on them today going to work. Quite "touchy" in steering response. Little dips in the highway make them wander more than my old BFG AT's. Sudden swerves left or right cause a bit of rear end swaying. I suppose that is due to the amount of rubber on the tread, 20/32. I'm running 40 PSI at this time and will play around with that a bit more.

I've noticed an increase in noise at highway speeds. A bit of a hum, but nothing too annoying. Not anywhere near what a mudder would do. Notice on the pics how the letters DC repeat themselves on the sidewall where it meets the tread. Gives that sidewall grip with a bit of style. I hope to get on some back trails this weekend and see if I can get 50 feet further into a mud hole before I get stuck. HA!
