I Dont Know Sizes.

Hey, My name is Tim and i have a 98 F150 Extended Cab 4.6 4X4. I want to make my truck into off roading and i am working on wheels and tires. Right now i have factory 16's with brand new cooper 265/75/16's on. I want to get Mickey Thompson's but dont know weather or not to go down to 15's or stay on 16's. I was told to go down to 15's for off roading from a friend but still not sure. If im going to go with 15's i need to know what bolt pattern, and other measurments to go with, and also what size tires. I am also looking into a 4'' suspension lift. I know i will be getting one just dont know when so i need tires that will go with and without a lift. Any possible help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, i am 16 and new to the forums.

Thank you Very Much

Sizes

15" wheels will probably not fit your truck as they will not clear the brake calipers. But there are a lot of options with 16 inch tires so stick with them.

Also since you only have a 4.6 I would not go to big with the tires as you will loose power.

There are plenty of tires available for 16" wheels, and as was already mentioned, 15" wheels will not fit our trucks because of the brake calipers.

You might need to get some wider wheels (16x8 or 16x10) to fit whatever tire you decide to go with.

I'd suggest a set of 16x10 inch wheels with 305/70-16 (33x12.50) tires. You need a 5x135mm bolt pattern and 4 1/2 or 4 5/8 inches of backspacing. This combo will look good at stock height or with a 4 inch lift. To fit this combo on a stock 4x4, you will have to crank up the torsion bars and trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower plastic valance. If you choose to, you can go up to a 315/75-16 (35x12.50) tire with the 4 inch lift.
