Question Tires for 18" Rims

Are tires for 18" rims few and far between?

I like the Weld 18X10 Stone Crusher Rim but can't find a 32" tire application for it on Tirerack.com. If someone makes it, would a 305/60/18 fit? I don't want to go much taller than 32" because of the speedo, but will consider a 33" tire if there's one for an 18" rim?

Nitto makes a 32 inch tall Terra Grappler. It is labled a 285/60-18 I beleive. I believe some of the new 04 4x4's come with a 275/65-18 which should be about 32 inches even. The problem with both of these sizes is that they are a little too narrow for a 10 inch wide wheel. You probably need to go with a 33 to get a tire wide enough for a 10 inch wide wheel. I'm running 285/75-16 BFG AT KO's on 16x10 inch wheels without any problem. However BFG recommends a maximum rim width of 9 inches for my tires. You might be able to get away with the 285 Nittos. Check their website and see what they recommend.

Wandell,

Thanks much...there seems to be more tire applications than 17" rims than for 18". I like the your tire combo and consider running it at one time on my stock rims as others have, but I was a little hestiant because my stocks are only 7" wide. The Weld Stone Crusher comes in a 17x9. I will either stay with the 18s and look for 33 that will fit the width or go with the 17s.

Thanks again.

Nitto Terra Grappler 325/60-18. 33" tall. 9.5" to 10.5" rim width recommended.

Larry150 - first off sweet looking ride! I have the same wheels (without any tires to date) and was thinking of getting those tires. Any problems so far with the combination? Reason I ask is the wheel you installed is only 8.5" wide vs. the 9.5 Nitto approves for that size tire. Any feedback you can provide would be appreciated.

No Problems what so ever, I went around and around, on what to get size, look etc.............checked with weld direct and they said no problem. It works well. I am very pleased with the final out come. Im not into heavy off road a bit of dirt no and then.......they now have 5000 miles on the setup. I would be concerned with off set this is big to make sure the sit under the truck. That wheel size comes in 2 different offsets...Hope this helps. This is a difference of 1/2 " they suggest 9.0 to 10" 9.5 working best.

Larry

Helps a lot! I too have the 40mm offset on the Velociti wheels. Bought them over the summer hoping to get some 18" BFG AT's but they became unavailable so I had my eye on the same type and size tire you have. Lucky find and good reassurance from you. Thanks for your input.

Larry - At what air pressure have you been running the tires? I've read that people claim they need to be run really low to keep the whole tread in contact with the surface because of the narrow rim which would make the ride spongey.
