What tire Brand should I go with for All-Terrain?
Ok
I have a 1998 150 4x4 and I am looking for a good winter tire. I live in the Rocky Mountian Region and use my truck to go hunting on and drive to work. So I need a all-terrain. I tried the cooper discover and I wasnt to impressed. now I have my mind set on either the Geolander AT or the Terra Grappler. Anyone have this brand of tire and use them both on and off road. let me know what you thought about them.
Thanks

BFG's are by far the best A/T tire out there. I recently purchased a set of 285/70/17 for my 2000 flareside. They have great wet, and dry traction. They are mud, and snow rated. Great smooth, quiet highway ride. Need I say more? The only downside, $$$, these tires are also some of the highest priced tires around. Best of luck tire hunting, I hope this helps.

Anyway, The only bad thing I have heard about the Geolander A/T +II is that treadwear isn't as great as some of its competition. I haven't heard much about the Nittos.

Well, I'm just speaking from my experiences, I've had a set of Cooper discovers, Bridgestone Duelers, and Geolander A/T. The only one that comes close to the bfg A/T is the dueler, the new revos are very good from what I hear. I had a set of 35" duelers on my toyota and they were pretty good. Had just a little more roar, although it wasnt bad, than I wanted. I really dont like the geolander to much I got rid of them with about 22,000 on them and they were wore down pretty good, but there again these are my own personal experiences.

Yes, the BFG's where my first choice. My younger brother has a set on his ranger and they take him anywhere. I think he bought a set for 600. I am needing something a little lower. I think I am starting to lean towards the Nittos. I think I now more about them than the yokohomas. I will start saving for my BFG's for next time.

I'm currently running the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's on my F150 and I love em. They are some of the best all around tires I've seen. They run great on the highway in dry or wet pavement and hold their own offroad as well. I don't know how they would be in the snow (since I can't say I see alot in Houston), but the tread design looks like they would do pretty good. Go to http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ler+A%2FT+Revo to get a look at them.

A/T Tires
I have been pricing replacment tires for my 2000 SCAB and have found that with the major brands the prices are relatively the same. I am looking at the BFG AT KO and the Revo. The Revo is $10.00 more per tire installed. I will not consider buying tires over the net as I like to have someone to complain to if I do have a problem.
The size I will buy is LT265/75/16 and I usually put less than 5,000 miles per year on my truck. Well that was with my old Bronco II. I do find mysely going on longer trips now. the Revo is my first choice from reading all the reviews on this forum. The price I have been quoted is $640.00 installed.

Personally I liked the Cooper AT's I had on my last truck with the excception of a centerline wear problem. I just purchased a set of Mastercraft Courser AT's on monday 265/70/17 for my 01 screw. This is made by cooper but a different design to address the centerline wear problem. $100 each on the rim and out the door.

I'v replaced my Yoko Geolandar AT with Revos just over a month ago, and I still can't get the grin off my face.
The installers did an excellent job with the balancing. I can head down the highway at 120Km/h (75mph) without even the slightest wheel vibration.
It's also been raining like he*l for the past few days (Tropical storm NICOLE) 60mm (2.5 inches) of rain in just over 24hrs. And these tires have been remarkable on wet pavement. But in all fairness, the Yokos I had before were also very good on wet pavement even if the were very used.
I bought this truck last March and did not get to play in the snow with it yet, so for the first time in many years, I'm actually anxious to get our first snow storm this year. Then I'll see the real test on these REVOs
I live in New-Brunswick on the Canadian East Coast, So I will have many occasions to test them out soon. In fact, by Febuary I'll probably be tired of trying them out
