I was reading a while ago about secondary bumpers being made for lifted vehicles. They were showing what it looked like on an Excursion. It was exactly for people like you, who may get into an accident, and the stock bumper was too high to be effective. It was matte black steel, and didn't look too bad. ..... Just a thought. BTW nice truck.

Right now I'm trying to find out if I can build some type of bumper under the stock that will make it legal, but so far it's looking like I may have to spend another 4 grand to get it lowered back down to the new legal height. I don't understand how the government can do that to you. I just bought this truck about 6 weeks ago for $40,000 and now I find out I'm going to have to invest at least another $4,000 to make it legal under a law they just created. It just doesn't seem fair.

Nice truck. Maybe thats why he sold it. Here in CA I think the bumpers need to be 30" or less above pavement. I maybe off on the amount, but it prevents huge lifts like yours.

Also, how the hell do you see whats directily in front of or behind. I woudn't want to back that SOB out of a crowded mall. Might run over some kids.

That law has been in affect for about 10 years in Missouri it is just rarely inforced. If you were to get in an accident though then you could be cited for it as well as C&I, and could be charged with attempted man slaughter, or if someone happened to die then even man slaughter. Wether the wreck was you fault or not the courts consider it a deadley weapon.
Many lift companys like Comp Lift, and Sky Jacker make a removable lowered bumbers for front and rear made of tubular steel that hangs beneath the bumpers and attachs to the frame with bolt on brackets. They bring you down below leagal so there is not a problem. The bumpers can be painted to match or contrast your vehicle or black to hide it some. It is held on to the brackets with hitch pins like your reciver hitch that are hidden behind the stock bumper and can easily be removed for shows or for greater entry and exit ground clearances for off road fun.

The law you are talking about didn't previously affect my truck because the law is based on a vehicle's GVW and mine is outside the regulations. The bill they are trying to pass is going to include vehichles with a higher GVW, thus now including my truck. Thanks for the info on the drop bumpers. I haven't had any takers on buying the truck, so I may get some of those drop bumpers to put on it.

Do you know where I can find those drop bumpers you are talking about? I looked all over the web and wasn't able to come up with anything
