I've got the 285/70/r17 BFG T/A KOs on my '97 Expedition. No mods needed. I get full articulation lock to lock with no rubbing. Shouldn't be a problem with your truck.

As for ride, I used to have the 265 BFGs, and these tires are a bit more rough riding. Probably the extra weight. Also, they can be a bit rough first thing in the morning until they warm up.
