how can i get 285/70/16's on til lift

more than likely i'll be getting a lift in the next month or so (at least a 3" body lift) but i'm looking at getting some new tires now. is there any way i can temporarily fit 285/70/16's on my 2wd truck til the lift? would coil spacers in the front take care of the rub until i can get the lift. if i have a little rub i can use it as an excuse (to my wife) to get the lift sooner (always thinkin ). any suggestions are appreciated (trimming, anything). thanks

Would it be possible to wait a little and do both at the same time?

Thats what I would do in your situation.

hey, payableondeath6 I was wondering when you get a lift lets say a 3 1/2 inch body lift (im looking into fabtech's), will the body then sit like a 4x4? My goal is to make my 97 f150 2wd to have an agressive stance like a f250 4x4.

i was just going on looks and the little knowledge i have about lifts. looks like a stock 4X4 is about 2-4" higher than my 2wd, also i've heard that the only difference between the 4X4's and the 2wd is the lift block in the back (but i'm sure there's a longer coil or something in the front too). hope that helps. still want my 285's and i'm really going to start putting it on the wife for a lift...wish me luck

i put coil spacers in the front and trimed the plastic valance on the front bumper and can fit 285's with no rbbing.
good luck and just do the spacers with a lift coil instead of the body. i am about to buy the coils, mabey, and then i will have the front sitting slightly higher than the rear.

The 97-03 F150s have compeltely different suspensions between 4x4 and 4x2. The rear is only the block on the rear axle as you mentioned. The front though are like night and day. The 2wd uses coils whereas the 4x4 uses a torsion bar setup.
