Question on Ford pads

This may be a stupid question, but I really am wondering about it. If Motorcraft is a Ford product, what is the difference between Motorcraft pads and Ford OEM pads?
Years ago when I was a hot-rodding teenager, I used either Motorcraft or Autolite spark plugs in my 68 Mustang because I figured that either one would be fine since they are both a Ford product. Now I am curious about the difference in Motorcraft and Ford OEM brake pads. Is there a difference?
I don't really mean to be a dumba**, but at least I'm asking here and not at some parts counter listening to the typical sales drivel trying to sell me some crap stuff.
Can someone edumacate me?
Thanks.

I've put the motorcraft pads on lots of vehicles and havent had any problems with noise or anything. they seem to stop just like oem. they look exactly the same. some even come with new hardware, you know that shim the pad rides on. they even have a heavy duty grade pad for trucks dont know whats different on those but they cost alittle more. im sure they just tweak the pad compound.

they require us to put the oem pads on if its a warranty claim everything else gets motorcraft.

they are comming out with all kinds of motorcraft parts. the wipers work great and have a UV wear indicator on them.
they are even starting to do emmissions sensors and stuff like that.

and the only difference i see is the cost.
