Angry New 285/75/R16 alignment problems!!

I just installed brand new 285?75/16 all terrains on my 4X4 on the factory 6 spoke rims and instanly noticed alignment problems. My alignment was perfect with the factory 255/70/16's but once the new ones were installed the truck pulls hard to the left when you let go of the wheel. To compensate, I have to hold the steering wheel to the right (the steering wheel now off centered). There is no vibration so I trust the wheel balancing, but what causes the bad alignment? Will a simple wheel alignment correct the problem? All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Did you check the air pressure in the fronts to make sure they are the same?

yes, check the air pressures.

Otherwise a larger, wider tire will follow the road more than a narrow tire. So you may be out of alignment and now it is just exagerated to where you notice it with the larger tires.

But for sure check the air pressures and you may want to losen and retorque the lug nuts. If they are over tight, it will act like a warped rotor.

If the before mentioned idea's didn't work try putting the left front tire on the right and visa versa. Let us know what solve it.

I have the same tires on my Expedition. I had balancing problems (now fixed), but no noticeable alignment problems, so I don't think it's the tires. I did get my alignment checked, and the toe on one side was slightly out, but I couldn't tell by driving it.

I'd start by getting the alignment checked and fixed, if needed. That ought to solve your problem.

The only other possibility that I can come up with is that one of your front brake calipers may be sticking.
