Max Tire Size

I have a 1997 F150 2x4 and would like to put on some bigger rims/tires. I don't have the owner manual anymore so I don't know what the rim size that's on now. I know I got the factory 17's but don't know the width. What's the max tire size I can go with on those. Also I've thought about going to 18 or 19x8 rim. Will soemthing like that work? What's the biggest tire I can put on that type of rim?

Your stock rims are 17x7.5 inches. What type of tire do you want? Street or off road? If you want an off road tire, you can easily fit a 265/70-17 (32x10.50) or even squeeze a 285/70-17 (33x11.50) on your truck.

Thanksd for the response. I won't be doing any off-roading, it's a standard set-up. I was thinking about something like a Goodyear Eagle. I have 285's on now but would like to go to a wider set-up maybe an 8" or 9". I don't know that I want to go as big as a 20" rim and lower profile tires. I'd like to fill the well as much as possible with decent split of rim and tire.
