Thumbs down Tire quality on Expys

About six months ago I bought my a wife a 2000 Expy (EB loaded with every option ford offered) stickerd at $40,000+) It came with General 275/60/17 grabber tires. I recently bought new wheels and tires for my 98 4x4 lariat from TireRack. While on that site I checked out the general grabbers, the exact tire on my Expy costs only $42.00, that is problablt the cheapest tire tirerack carries.I am livid that a $40,000 vehicle, only has less than $169.00 worth of rubber on the road. Since it is assumed that Quality costs money, what does that leave me with. I recently went on a high speed (within limits) run in the Expy from New Orleans to Atlanta in the Expy with 4 adults thinking I was in tha safest vehicle possible (new truck, new tires etc). What is ford thinking, why are the bean counters allowed to get away with this, why aren't the tires on this Expy a top of the line tire from the factory!. Needless to say, new tires are being installed this weekend. Anyone want some cheap, chinzy tires with 5000 miles on them?

98 Lariat 4x4,westin nerf bars, flowmaster duals,edelbrocks,17x8 chrome 6 spoke wheels,275/75/17 goodyear GSAs,rhino lining, color cooridinated bug shield and side and back window louvers,GPS,expy console
