Hey Don,

If extra lug holes weaken the rim, then wouldn't those 6 BIG holes weaken the rim too?

you may be right, but for $290.00 each, I don't want to have a chevy lug pattern on my truck too.
Also if not torqed properly I am afraid that there could be some warping in the lug area.

For that kind of money I should have rims that are made to fit just my truck.

People have been drilling holes in metal for years. Results: Lighter with little to no reduction in strength.
Having an extra 1/2" hole between the holes that match your lug pattern should be no problem. There should still be plenty of metal to hold the wheel.
By doing this, they have one wheel that'll fit more trucks - thereby RECUCING the cost of the wheels.
If you like how they look, buy them.

Cool

Forgot to point out that my wheels come with eight lug holes and they are actually stronger than the stock wheels on your truck.
Follow link in my signature for pics of my wheels. They look a little like the F1 Vader

Thanks for the reply, but 10 lug nut holes in those rims would be the same thing as if you had 16 holes in yours.
My point is that for custom made rims, they should be fit for each diiferent application.

If they made the same wheel with two lug patterns - 1 for Ford and the other for Chevy - they'd have to increase their prices.
At $290 per these wheels are already pricey. You should be greatful that they're keeping the price "down" by only adding 5 small holes
Actually, I'd not like to have the same wheel that some Shovie has. Maybe you'd be better off looking for a unique wheel that only fits your truck
Good Luck!!

Thumbs down Weld F1 forged rim use Dual bolt pattern

I talked to Weld Racing today about the F1 Vader forged rim 17x8". I was told that rim is a dual lug rim.Meaning it has 10 lug holes in the rim. The other 5 to fit a chevy of all things.
I told them that that had to weaken the wheel, they told me "no it will not effect the wheel at all"
I would like your oppinions on this dual lug feature. I know they are doing this to save money. They don't do this on the Super Single rim.
I would urge everyone who might be interested in these rims to call, or write them and let them know what you think.

One good thing about them fittin a shovie. If you ever wanted to sell them there would be more people whose trucks could use it. You would have a better chance of selling them. Of course if they look that good you probably never would.

Angry

Well I thank everyone for responding to me.I decided to get the F1 Vader, so I called my tire dealer to have them order them. Well to my surprise Weld decided to stop making them, before they ever went into production.
I am a little bit pissed, last week Weld told me they were available, and now they are not. The funny thing when you go to there web page http://www.weldracing.com they are the first thing you see, there featured wheel.
Oh well I guess my search for my new rims continues.

Don,
Why not try to order them from their web page?
If they've got photos, they must have made them (at least one )
If they've got a set laying around, they might just sell them to you
Then you'd have the ONLY set made
Good luck.
