With the options they gave you I'd take the Wrangler RT/S, that's what I have on my truck currently, I've had the Wrangler AP and didn't care for the preformance. Nothing against those who have the Generals but I personally don't like the look of the trucks with the Generals, to me they look small, plain, and out of place, just my opinion. I cant say anything about the Michelin having not seen them, usually Michelin are a good tire and usually rather expensive, thats why I didn't look at them. I wanted something slightly more aggresive than the AP's and didn't have a fortune to spend and the RT/S's fit what I was looking for. Like I said that's just my opinion.

RT/s is considered an AT tire?!?! this should be illegal, even Goodyear's AT/s tires are barely an all-terrain tread. If I were you, I'd go with the Michelin's. they'll last longer than any of the other tires, be a decent tread design, and be WAY better for all climates the the GY's. Plus, if you don't like them after all, you can get more in resale for the Mich's. The GY's are worthless.

I have used the RT/S now for about 4 months and have had much better performance out of them than the AP's I had prior. The Michelin's, like I said before are usually a good tire I just can't say anymore about them since i've not seen or tried that tire. Also if you had problem with RT/S keeping traction and had the 5.4 that might have been part of it, I only have the 4.6 and have found them to be acceptable for everday use, If I had a 4X4 with the ORP and went off road at times, I probably would not use any of the tires offered by Ford except for maybe the Michelin and then only maybe. If your going to take your truck off road go out and buy a good off road tire if you use your truck for everyday driving then use one of the one offered by Ford.

I replaced my Firestones with Bridgestones Dueler AT's. They were one of the best rated AT tires currently on the market, and were very affordable. I got all 5 tires mounted/balanced for $635, well below the $650 max allowed for 16" and 17"...(mine were 265/70/17's). I don't have but about 400 miles on them, but I am definitely pleased with the ride and appearance. If your looking for an AT, I think they are your best bet for the money. I had also considered the BFG AT KO's, but they were about $80 more per tire.

Just got rid of the Goodyear ATs 265/70r17.
What a worthless tire....
Put on the Cross Terrains in the same size. First choice was the BFG AT but couldn't get a set anywhere or any time soon...
Very happy with the Michelins so far. Very nice on the road, and no problem on sand. They are not nearly as aggressive as the BFGs or GYs. Very quiet, and handeling was improved. Installed new shocks at the same time...

Just want to make sure you know you do NOT HAVE to get tires on Fords list! If that were the case, the choices in my size were both dogs based on past experience and how I use my truck. If you do take a set of of that list, go with the Michleins. I can't vouch for them personally, but they should give you a long life and a "premium" name (as well as price!).

My choice was set of Bridgestone Dueler AT's - I've been real happy so far.

just this evening pulled a guy out of some mud who had the Mich Crossterrains on a new explorer. They were packed full of muck. I'm still on GY AT/S tires, with 74000km on them.

Michelins will likely be a better all round tire, but from what i saw tonight, i wouldn't try them in anything other than dry grass. (and pavement!)

Well, I don't do any mudding, but they were ok in deep sand...no problems. The Cross Terrains don't have a tread that is compatable with deep mud...I think it was more of driver issue than the tires. Mud is a far cry from dry grass....now, those GYs are another story...
