Post Spare Tire Failure

I lowered my spare for the 1st time yesterday and found the 8 dimples resulting from it being pressed against the underside of the bed.

I'm sure that anyone who's checked knows what I'm referring to.

I'll be traveling many miles from home next week (this is why I checked it) and I'm curious to know if anyone has had their spare fail after installing it with these marks on it.

Thanks,
Adam

If the marks have "cut" into the tire at all, I would probably replace it. If it's just "rub" marks, then it'll probably be ok. If any doubt, just pick up a good used tire. I did for only $30 mounted and even balanced! Lots more peace of mind......

I hav a cover so it's out of site and it

I believe that some dealers where replaceing the tires if they where messed up

Last October when I was on vacation I had a blow out and put on the spare it had the rub marks on it so I took it easy for a couple days put 2200 miles on it before putting back under the bed.

Adam, if you don't put something between the tire and truck, next time you will have 12 marks. My marks doubled everytime I lowered the tire till I wised up.
