what 15s should I use?
I am just a bieginner at this truck modification stuff, so please help and speak in laymans terms. I have an 88 4x4 f-150, has a towing package on it, has stock 15 inch rims, I am going to put a 3" body lift on it, I am wondering what tires I can put on that will look good, while keeping the same rims on, preferably BFG tires, and ones that will have an aggressive tread that will not buzz REALLY loud on the highway. I know that these are confining requirements, but this is what I have to work with, and a small college income. Thanks for ANY help!
I would go with BFG All Terrain tires. My dad has them on his 91 F150 and they look pretty aggressive on there and they don't howl loud at all. As far as the largest you could go is maybe a 32/11.50 R15 tire. My dad is running 31/10.50 R15s on his truck. I don't know how loud the Mud Terrains are but if they are anything like my old Uniroyal Laredo M/Ts they will be farily loud, and you especially notice this at lower speeds.

Thanks powerstroke73, anyone else have opinions, and what exact size number should I get if I do get the BFG all terrain tires, I am very new to the whole tire scene, and I don't know what all the tire numbers mean, so if any one can give me some exact numbers that would be great!
The numbers on a standard tire size are in inches. A 32/11.50/15 has a 32" diameter and a width of 11.5" and fits on a 15" rim. If the tire is metric like a 285/75/16 the tire is 285mm wide and the sidewalls are 75% as tall as the width of the tire and it fits on a 16" rim. In your case I would look at standard sizes due to the fact that there are more of them available for 15" rims that there are metrics. But like I said earlier you don't want wider than an 11.5" tire on your stock rims and I think that a 32" tall tire is all the more you can fit on your truck with the 3" body lift. You might be able to squeeze a 33" tall tire onto it but you want to make sure that it doesn't rub and that it has enough room to articulate without hitting anything. Remember to make sure that it won't rub when you have your wheels turned to one side or another.
Thank you so much powerstroke73! You have cleared up any questions I had, I will probably go with 31s just to make sure I have plenty of travel, but I will still check out the 32s, will probably get the bfgs that you recommended, thanks!!!
