Question Best locking lugs??

Just a sidebar from the Michelin LTX thread.....What locking lugs are you using to keep your wheels from being stolen?
Which ones are the best?

McGard. By Far, hands down the best. They also maintain a key-code registry number database in case of a lost key. I left the key on the wheel once on my Ranger. They got me a new one in a day and a half.

Gorilla's are OK... they rust like there's no tomorrow, though.

Thanks,GIJoeCam!!
I had heard that those were decent locks.
Have you heard about using two sets?
A Teacher were I learned bodywork told me of a trick thieves use to get around them. On some vehicles, you undo all the other lugs, and if you can pull hard enough on the opposite side from the lock, you can snap the lug. I am definately going to use two sets!!,,,,98

I've never personally used two, but my grandfather did on all his cars, just for the reason you described. My thought is that if they want them that bad, they can have them. Two locks would just frustrate them even more and if they couldn't get the tires, they might smash the windows just out of spite.

I just use one... they'll keep an honest man honest. But I guess if you want the ultimate in security, get 5 sets... then put five different locks on each wheel in a different order, but don't lose a single key! (Rotating the tires could turn out to be an all-day project!!)

Just something to think about , the way you remove McGard wheel locks if you loose the key is you take a socket that will just go on the end of the lock but not quite then you drive it on with a hammer .Use a ratchet to remove it .

That works for the first one, but that's 25 sockets if the guy at the instant tire rotation place forgets to put them back...

Of course, that's exactly why I buy Craftsman!

Howdy!

Wheel locks are used to keep honest people honest. They will not stop a determined thief.

Yes, I have 2 different sets. Why? The 2nd came at no charge..

PS I rigged my truck so if someone stole the polished rims, it will blow!!

J/K.

Have a no-brick day.

------------------
My ride:

Basics:
- '99 XLT F-150

Under hood and back:
- Ram air (Don't ask me how )
- AiRaid intake
- Flowmaster DF 50 Series
- 24x3.5" Stainless steel slashed tips (Yes! Solid polished SS, no cheesy chrome-plated)
...

Outside:
- Precision polished billet grille and plate holders
- American Racing 17x8s polished Pythons (Flushed front AND back)
- Goodyear.. something tires (Expensive is all I know. LOL. No Firestone firecrackers for me either)
- Rhino liner
- Ford nerf bars
- Ford bed rails
...

Inside:
- My girlfriend!
...

Fun stuff:
- Dual sirens Black Widow alarm system/keyless entry (Enough decibels to go deaf in a garage )
- Custom driving lights (Just a cool blue)
- 2 High-Watt lights behind grille (For people who cut me off )
- Dual horns (For people who, again, cut me off)
- Dual wheel locks (So I won't be driving home on bricks!)
- Spare wheel lock (So I won't have to use a brick as a spare )
...

Best of all:
- Texas A&M University aTm front plate! Gig'em Aggies!!
