Post Will wider wheels help?

Just upgraded my OEM 255-75-16s to a set of 275-70-16 Michelins. Nice tires, but I was hoping for a wider stance look. Question: If I now went back and got some 16 x 10'' wheels and had these new Michelins mounted, would they be look wider and lower on the wider rims? If not, what is a commonwide tire size or a 16" wheel?

Cool

oh yes that'd do it. But i'm not too confident if you can even fit that tire on a 16x10 rim. You may want to just look for a 16x8 wheel with an offset (ex. Eagle 058 or American Racing Baja or American Racing Atlas). Positive offset is a no no if you want more width to the tires. An offset of 0 is better than factory. Tire height will decrease about a 1/4" with wider rims. Personally i'd look into the 16x8 Eagle 058(aka Eagle 589's) they are good lookin to me and with the negative offset they will set off ur ride by adding that width to the tire. Hope this helps.

Hey BigBadRed: Thanks, I studied your suggestions, I think I see what to look for now to help out these new tires and get a wider stance. Negative offset = deep dish look - right? Winder

that is correct. The more negative the offset it means the "deeper" the wheel is. If a wheel has a positive offset than the wheel is pretty shallow. Factory rims are all positive (by how much i'm not sure). Some wheels come with an offset of 0 which is deeper than stock and i think looks good, but if you want your tires to stick out you want a negative. My atlas' in the pics below are like -26mm offset. Baja's/589's are the same in a 10" wide wheel. I'm not sure what offset is on an 8" wheel but anything 0 or over will increase tire width. Especially since you are also increasing wheel width an inch from stock 7" width to 8"...Hope this helps
