Question tires

I was thinking about putting a fabtech 2" leveling kit on my 99 f-150 4x2, but I don't know what kind of tires to put on it. I want to wither put Goodyear Wrangler AT/S 285/75, ot BFG AT's 285/75. It will be able to fit 285's, but I don't know if that will work with my stock wheels. Oh, and those General Grabbers that Ford uses, they suck.

You should be able to fit 285/75r16's with out any problems. I'd say go with the BFG's for sure, I heard the Goodyears just plain suck. 285's on stock wheels will work just fine. If you get the lift, they will work perfectly, I didn't get a lift and I had to make a small mod. to a loom of wires that runs on the drivers side frame rail. But I saved $200 on the lift.

Thanks for the response. I was looking at your description, and I couldn't help but notice the 1" spacers and the true dual. I was going to put spacers in my coil springs, but I researched it and it really isn't supposed to be very good. They're supposed to make the ride a lot rougher, and it could tear up all of your arms. The true dual, you need to know an inspector because it's illegal. At least I know that in Texas it is. I was going to put the 2 chamber flowmaster on mine, but Ford said that it would void my warranty, so I decided to wait till the summer maybe. If you go to truckperformance.com there is really a lot of useful stuff there. A 2" leveling kit for $281! I thought it was a pretty good deal. Anyway, thanks a lot for the advice.

Welcome to the board truklover!!

I've got true duals and it passed the inspection with flying colors. This was a guy who wouldn't inspect my truck because it had tint on the upper windshield(had to take it off) He was pretty picky, too. You were misinformed
about a muffler voiding the warranty, they can't do that legally. Unless they can prove it damaged the engine. Inform this dealer(and yourself) about the Magnuson act. This roughly states that they can't require you to use there replacement parts, unless they offer them free of charge.Enjoy the mods,,,,98

Maybe I was misinformed about the true dual. I did however research spring spacers. I would highly advise against it. Every place that I went to to try and see how much it would cost for install., they told me they wouldn't even do it for liability reasons. Makes the springs tight, therefore making it very rough on your truck.

I'm waiting for the pictures to come in, I'll post them then. As for the spring spacers, I've heard different stories, I guess it's up to you to decide which one you believe. Some people get stiffer ride, some see no difference. I guess it depends on which ones you go with. About the true dual, There are two catalytic converters, one from each side of the engine, therefore, true dual exhast is leagal. you are modifying only from the cat back.

i believe r0land is correct. I have a true dual also. What i believe is illegal is not have the catalytic converters.
...hope this helps...
