Went to 265/75/16's which are ~31" tall. Tell Ford to use the same program they use for the 265/70/17 tires........ They are basically the same size, height wise.....

I was lucky and just had to swap out the VSS gear. You '99 and newer trucks don't have 'em. Only cost about $10.00 for the new gear and about 5 minutes to swap it out.....

There was a noticable difference in the shifting and the speedo was off a good amount after the tire swap. After the VSS gear swap, it shifted much better and the speedo is now correct.

Mine is an '03...So, I guess I'll need Ford to recalibrate the computer. I've heard varying stories about dealerships and their willingness to do this...Also, have you had any problems with your ABS system with the bigger tires?

The ABS system is not affected by bigger tires.

Don't even bother with the dealer......get yourself a SuperChips Micro Tuner. This unit is the bomb! It will take care of your tire/speed calibration but the performance is where its at. The shifting soooo crisp and clean.

Adam, here is an old picture of my 4x2 Scab with 265/70/17 tires. I swapped tires with my 4x4 for a week and took this picture.

I got mine from 2d's Performance. I paid $289.50 with shipping. It was the best price that I had found at the time.

You can:
1) re-program the speedo for different tires
2) re-program for different gears
3) Swap between 3 different programs:
a) 87 octane
b) 91 octane performance
c) 91 octane towing
4) Tuner will read your computers codes to help with diagnosing engine problems. You can also use this tuner to read other 5.4 engines codes.

Lurk around in the "Chips" forum. You can find an answer to pretty much all your questions there and a number of ?'s that you never thought of asking.
