Question 4x2 tire help for newbie

Im getting a 2001 white F-150 X cab and want
to get a bigger tire to fill up the wells. Right now I cant afford a lift. Ive narrwed it down to 265/75/16 265/70/16 or 285/75/16
Will the 285/75 fit without rubbing? Which would fit the truck the best??

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the advice Dave!! What I would RELLY like is to get to 4X4 height but have
NO idea what to do. Im afraid of doing anything to the suspension because I love the way the truck rides. I did call a local shop and asked what it would cost for a 3" body lift..they said 1500$!!! Any other advice??

$1500 for a 3" body lift? That's a rip. I have a place here that'll do it for $700, but if you have a friend whos a big truck person, you can get a body lift on for less than $500...as for tires, well, without lift the 265s will help a lot. But with a lift, the 265s are gonna look tiny. So if you plan on lifting the truck, i wouldnt put on 265s. But thats me...my 2 cents...

OFF,
If someone told you 1500 for a body lift beware..they are scewing you...Should be between 500-750, thats parts and lift lips included....The body lift will not affect your ride at all, the tire will affect it more, so be wise on what you pick...call around and ask question to other members..where are you located..Good luck Dave

Yea..I thought that was a little high. Same place gave me a price for a spindle lift for $2500.00!! Im about 20 miles from Atlantic City. I never knew there were so many options
for this kind of stuff..very confusing..I dont want to make the wrong decision and screw the truck up..

I second what Dave said! Put 265/75/16 Pirelli Scorpion AT's on mine right after driving her off the lot... they looked great and performed just as well. Think I got 'em for about $105 a piece minus the $100 the shop gave me for the stock crap the truck came with.

I only upsized to 285's after I did the first part of my lift, and will probably go up to 315's next summer.
