Post What width wheel for a 275/60/17

I saw this size tire on a dodge SST truck,
and they looked like the perfect size. Wide
enough without looking like a steam roller
,Those trucks with the tires sticking 4 or 5
inches out of the wheel well just look plain silly. Should I go 8,9,or 10?

I will try to get as close as posible with this information, but I have specs for 275/70R17 instead of the 275/60R17 you required.

This is suggested for a Wrangler GSA LT in the 275/70R17: Approved rim width 7.0-8.5.
BTW this is a 32.8" tall tire with a maximun load of 2600#.

Thank you very much,JMtruck. I am wondering what the lower aspect ratio would require with out the tread trying to
crown in the middle. Anyone know the SST's wheel width by chance? These were stock rims on the truck I saw.

The best thing to do is check the manufacturer's recommended wheel width for the particular tire you're considering. They'll be fairly close but you never know.

They didn't stick out hardly at all,not like some of the mentally challenged ones I've seen. Seriously ,I think some of those
guys buy 15x10's,with 21/2 backspace.
But thanks for the help guys, now I just have to save my pennies, and wait for my
yokahama's to wear out. At the rate their
going it won't be long,,,,,,98

98screamer - if you don't want the wheels sticking out like they do on the SST's also make sure you get correct backspacing with the rim size.

black 97' x-cab 4x4, 5 speed 4.6, black westin nerf bars, pilot ground searchers, borla SS split rear exhaust, K&N genII, bosch +4 plugs, superchip, flexalite electric fan, v-tech oval side window covers, IAS shocks

premier 720, pioneer 6cd changer, 12 premier sub, premier componets, 2 soso amps

still to come: new spark plug wires, new rims and tires, maybe a supercharger eventually.

BFG suggests using 7.5" to 9.5" rim for their Comp T/A HR4 version of this tire.

98, I don't really know your truck that well except I probably have a couple really similar ones sitting in my driveway.

I agree about 60's, they've always been a pretty bad %ss looking tire.

What stance does your truck have now. It might dictate a tail end adjustment to achieve you desired "look".

future mods: BFG 285/75/16's, 3" fabtech front coils (Next week, whoo), Trans-go shift kit,
80-90k mi. mods: 3" spindles, centerline rims with 35's

Cool

Yep,they take me back to my 71 Cutlass,
I had 245/60/14's on it and it looked a stock car. My truck is bone stock suspension-wise,I've been thinking about
a rear 2" drop shackle. This is a tough descision, because sometimes the back looks high and other times it looks level.
Not just while loaded or unloaded, either.
The SST's look like 4wd's,they're so high,
but they look sharp with the 275's,,,,,,,,98

you might take a look at the F150 Sports,
Mine came with 17" rims with the 275/60/17 Goodyear Eagle GT II 60's, don't know their specs off the top of my head but they look great! I think the wheels were changed in 2000 but look at the '99 Sports, I love the looks of mine

Question

What year are those square spoked wheels with the chrome center caps?
I've seriously considering a set of those
with the 275's. These are the sharpest wheels ever put on the 150's,as far as factory wheels go anyways. They look like
brushed aluminum with a clearcoat . Just
real simple looking wheel that looks perfect with the body style. They are definitely 99-up
