new tires and reprogramming the computer...
I am the proud Poppa of a 2003 FX4 single cab, short wheelbase, flairside (styleside...whatever)...the color is trueblue. To get to my question...I am wanting to put the biggest possible tires on there without a lift. I don't want to ruin the warranty just yet. I have read and seen where I can fit up to 305's on there with a little adjusting of the torsion bar. Now is this a hard thing to do? I really am not that mechanically inclined, but I can read directions and turn a wrench. Anyway, if all is accomplished and the 305's will fit in there, Do I have to get the computer reprogrammed....Someone help me if you can, and if you have any other stuff I can do to make my truck a force to be reckoned with while not going overboard let me know...Thanks alot...Justin
305 will fit with no problem. You don't have to adjust the torsion bar you can trim the lower Valance about 1 1/2" off the conor. If you crank up too much on the torsion bar you will have to realign the front end.
THANKS ALOT
THANKS ALOT FOR THE INFO.....I AM STILL WONDERING WHAT SIZE RIMS TO GO WITH...IT SOUND LIKE 16'S ARE THE POPULAR CHOICE...HOW MUCH BACKSPACING SHOUD I GET AROUND 4.5 INCHES OR SO. WHO WOULD BE THE BEST BRANDS IN YOUR OPINION....THANKS
I went with 16 because it is eaiser to find tires. I have 16x10 AR Atlas I think the back spacing is 4.5. The tires are 305/70/16.
