Unknown rotors and lockout hubs
Hello all F150 lovers
I have a 96 F150 4x4 I bought about a year ago
My lockout switch broke on my hub so I went to buy a new one and no parts house has never seen my type of rotor and hub system on a f150
My set up is a rotor that houses the inner/outer wheel bearings with a full removable hub like a ford explorer.(see gallery)
I have been driving with out no hub on passengers side for about six months since the switch is broke it kept locking in.Ford guys really freak out saying how in the hell is that wheel staying on there with no hub (see gallery)
Well now my wheel bearings have gone out on the drivers side.So I do a tear down and take bearngs to the parts house for replacement and can find no match. We tried everything from 88 upto 96 f150 and bronco with no luck.So the parts dude say go to a junk yard and get everything from the spindle out,so i do.Well $200 later I find out my axle shaft is to short to stick out pass the spindle by atleast 2 inches. So now I need a longer axle shaft witch is another $150....grrrrrrrrr.........
All cause I cant find the right wheel bearing
I did find two used hubs at a junk yard way down in the sticks sitting on a shelf just like mine and bought them both for $75
The junkyard owner said they had been sitting on his shelf for about ten years and had no idea what they went to cept they were five bolt pattern ford(luck me)Now if I can only find me some wheel bearings I whould be set.
Does anyone know what I have?Is this some type of aftermarket set up I have? The truck does have a rebuilt title could it be a older front end?HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!
One more thing,I replaced the brake pads on the front. They did not match a 96 pad but they did match a 89 pad.
Thx from no so muddy right now guy in Kentucky.

After hours of research I have found out that I have the rare 87 front end set up.In 1986 Warn Industries patented a flange style lockout assy. with a one pieace rotor/hub set up for the ford f150.
Well ford bought the patent in 87 and put it in to production late that year and early 88 then they went back to the set up we all know, lockout caps with the two peice hub/rotor.
So if anyone has any of these 87/88 flange lockouts,hub/rotor,spindles,axles shafts laying around gimme a e-mail and I may take them off your hands if the price is right.
