Talking Superswamper ssr Vs Procomp mudders!?

I have a 97 f150 ORP and its time to by some new tires. I am debating if I should go with the superswamper ssr 32.11.5/17 or the procomp mudders 33/12.5/17. I know for sure that the ssr will fit but what about the procomps? Will they rub?? Since I am mounting them on the retarded 17" rims will they be larger then 16" rims??? I am cranked my torsion bars so my front in is 2 inches higher and my truck is level, so I am just wondering if I go with the procomp mudders will I lose articulation or should I just stick with the 32's. Does anyone have ssr or the mudders?? Well thanks!

I will warn you tho, that Swampers and driving on pavement don't mix. Roads eat them up incredibly fast. I wanted some SS Thornbirds, but several people in a local off road club said they were awful for holding up on roads. Just a thought. Haven't heard too much on the Pro Comps yet.

I don't have a lift, yet. That's next on my List O' Decadence The truck was lifted, I want to say about 1.5" from the tires. They rubbed on the corners of the plastic ground effects on the front bumper (97 ORP). I took a Sawsall and clipped the corners by the tire. Can't tell at all. They are 34/11.50/17 - odd size and the tire dealers will tell you that, ALOT. They're just a little wider than the stock tires, but have a mean a*s tread pattern that comes down a few inches on the sidewall. Looks tough and is will climb right out of the deepest ruts. I picked mine up from National Tire and Wheel for $185 a piece. I ordered 5 of them, and had 4 of them in three days delivered on my porch. Still waiting on my 5th tire for my spare. They've got a real nice humm to them when driving on the pavement. It hurt the pocket book temporarily, but I'm in love with them

Cool

Somebody say my name? Ohhhh, you are talking about tires Well, don't know much about the big mudders, but they won't last ya long on the road. I guess I just love all-terrains too much, I mean who really lives in the mud? It's hard to waste over $200 for some tires, but they do look cool. If I had lots of money I would get some Swampers, but like I said, won't get ya but 15K if you are lucky. But Good luck to you.

sboarders,
I used to have the mickey thompson 34x11.50-17's on my 1998 ORP, ex cab lariat. I lucked out and got them from a friend who only put 2000miles on them, got all 4 for $300. Anyway, they are very expensive and are pretty loud, but they are unbelieveable off-road!! and they look incredible. I e-mailed pro comp the other day to ask about the 305/70-17's they say they have and the reply i got was that the only one available right now was the all-terrain, which in my opinion, doesn't look very good at all. i'm not sure when the muds are coming out, but i hope it's soon, b/c i am also in the market for new tires. I am either gonna go with the pro comp mudders(if they come out in the next 2 months) or the BFG all terrain KO's.
In short, I definately wouldn't recommend paying $200 per tire for the mickey t's since they last 18000 miles MAX, so lets hope that the pro comps come out soon, anything is better than the goodyear rt/s.
let me know if you have any questions.

You're only lasted 18k? Wow. Must be different driving down there in GA. The people I spoke to and the articles I read said they held up extrememly well for raod driving. How much of that was city driving?

MrScot,
Mine had about 18000 on them when i took them off, they get real slick in wet weather when they become really worn. I might have been able to get a little more out of them, but one instance of almost putting my truck into a guard rail on an interstate on-ramp at 25-30mph with wet roads was enough for me to switch back to stock. Like i said, this was just my situation, so you may be able to get more out of them if they are rotated regularly and not driven too hard. keep in mind that they are belted tires, not radials, and the compound is also softer than your normal radial tire, which results in shorter tread life. One thing is for sure though, they look incredible on that 17in wheel. I saw pics of your truck, it looks bad ***!! good luck to ya

Thanks. Yeah,I knew that would last as long as I'd like them too. Who knows, I may buy another set of street tires on some 16" rims, and just save these the pure off roading. They're too nice to have just wear down like that. I'll have to pick some more brains around here. I've run into a lot that have had good luck with M/T's, which could be anything from the differences in weather here and there. If not, I'll take lots of pictures of them now. lol
