LT tires recommendations
I will be upgrading my tires at 35K. My current are Goodyear Wrangler AP's. The psi and weight ratings are 35 and 2.3K respectively. These are passenger rated tires. I will be upgrading to LT tires since I haul overloads on many occasions and these will insure a bigger safety margin. Would I need to replace the spare as well? If I am to get the Goodyear Wrangler AP's but LT series can I still keep the spare? If I need to change all tires, what brand would you recommend? The Wranglers slip alot on slick roads. Would the change hurt my mpg's?

Leo, I have the BFG Long Trails T/As, but there 275x60s on 17" rims.
I saw a 00 Chevy Silverado the other day in the parking lot and it had the same tire only 16".
From what I've seen with these tires ,they gripe real good in the rain and it snowed the other day and they griped real good, awhole lot better that those Goodyears I had on my 97..
The BFG is a good looking tire, runs quite and seems to be a bit stickier..

Don't worry about the spare unless you use it in your rotation pattern. If you stay with the same circumference, your mpg or speedometer won't change.
Now for my 2cents
I have had GY, BFG, Michelin on my explorer and now General on my F150. After having the Michelin XC LT4 on my explorer, I will never "Buy" anything but Michelin's. I absolutly HATE the Generals. They spin if there is so much as spit on the road. The Michelin's ride smooth, quiet and grip better that the GY Wrangler Aqua-treads I had.

My truck came with Goodyear LT265/70R17 AT/S. I've found that they work very well in wet and dry, there hasn't been a chance to test in snow. A good rule of thumb about traction is the treadwear. The harder the tire, the higher the treadwear, and generally more slippery in certain conditions.
