Post Experiences with the damaged spare tire?

Sorry about bring back a really old topic, but I just wanted to find out what you have experienced-dealer's response to the indentations on the spare tire's sidewall? Did they ever replace it or did you have to take it to a tire shop-for the tire's warranty? Is it worth all the hassle of getting it replace or taken care of?

I never dealt with any dealer or tire manufacturers over the problem but came up with a nice little quick fix to combat the problem in the future. There are 4 spots where the tires rub the brackets underneath. I took 2 paint rollers, cut them in half, and then cut them through one side lengthwise. They now form a u-shape. Place these over the brackets before snugging the tire back in place. Seems to work pretty good and is pretty cheap.
