Balance weights on aftermarket wheels - where do you have them?

Sorry for taking so long to reply, been kind of busy.

bsshunter, If a tire/wheel assembly is match mounted from the factory, dismounting the tire and remounting may help balance, but will probably make the effect of run out & force variation worse. Run out and force variation cannot be corrected except by match mounting or possibly grinding the tires. Balance can be minimized. Some wheels are purposely made with built in run out so that match mounting can help minimize the force variation in the tire. Unfortunitly, many tire shops have little concept of what match mounting is all about.

kkirt1, force variation is a term used to describe what could be called radial run out in a tire under load. The force is measured to produce a given amount of side wall deflection as the tire is rotated. The variation in that force is where the term "force variation" comes from. Typically the tire is marked for the high point of force variation and the wheel is marked for the low point of run out. Matching the low point of the wheel and the high point of the tire produces a truer running assembly.
