Abs
A little history: I have a 4x4, 2000 f150, 5.4 & Installed all new front end balljoints, had to disconnect the frt. ABS speed sensors, and lubed the crap out of it be for reinstalling. And have since cleaned it up. All worked fine for a few days. Then the wife drove it, ( getting the 99 expedition repaired) an on the 2nd day the ABS lite came on. Finally had the code read by a local Co. Came back with a sensor in the rear, Fault code C1230 & C1229 also an OPEN circuit on the hyd. pump motor Code C1096. Troubleshooting: 1. Step on the brake and hold. 2. Turn the key to the run position and with out starting the motor. 3. ABS lite comes on, then goes out "foot still on the break" 4. Release the brake, as soon as the brake lite goes out I can hear the Hyd motor surge. So I'm wondering if any one has had the same problem, before I R2 the rear sensor. I did an continuity check all three (2 frt and rear) have a close circuit. getting a positive reading. I'm ready to R2 the rear sensor, seem the less expensive 1st step to take.
Welcome to F150 Online !!
LOTS of people have posted regarding the rear ABS sensor. Seems they go bad quite often.
Less than $20 at your local Ford parts counter. 5 minute repair, too.
Good luck and remember to post your results...

Well I rechecked the continuity on the rear sensor and it is open.
So this morning I'll go to Ford and get the a new sensor.
Well, R2 the rear sensor Ops. Check GOOD! About $22.00
Thanks
