Question tires for my 2-WD

I have a F-150 2wd (1997). The Firestone Wilderness ATs suck. They are especially bad in wet conditions and snow. I only put 500 miles a month on it and will probably only have the truck for about 30,000 more miles, so something less expensive than BFGs. Any thoughts on a good tire that will perform in an Iowa winter? I’ve noticed the Liberator tire at Wal-Mart.

I put Michelin Cross Terrain SUV's on my 2wd. They were expensive, but are tons better than the stock rim protectors.

With the Michelins, there is much less road noise and far better grip in the wet and braking. The Cross Terrains are original equipment on some of the more expensive SUV's. The sidewall is soft for a good ride, but I would be leary of using them in rocks.

I have Bridgestone Dueler H/L's and they're pretty good. They work well in all conditions.

I agree with the lifeguard. I just put the Dueler H/L's and I'm pretty impressed. A big difference from the General's that came with the truck.

Dueler AT. Tons of traction for 2wd.

Tons of life too.
