f 250 235's must go! but for what size/?

Hey guys my dad just got a 03 f 250 with the 5.4(I know) but he said it was plenty powerful. Anyways the thing comes with stock 235's which is ridiculous. Can you guys recomend any good beefy tire size in a 16 in rim. I was thinking about 33's or somthing but I wasnt sure with that skinny of a rim. Anyways any help would be apreciated.

I went from the stock 235s to a 285/75/16 on the stock rims, and haven't had any problems at all.

He may even be able to fit the 315's on the F250 and for sure the 305's will fit.

Sure - the 305s will fit (and the 315s might with minor rubbing), but most 305s that I have looked at called for at least an 8" wide rim. Since he referred to a "skinny rim" I am assuming that he is wanting to stay with the stock rims, which aren't at least 8" wide. Personally, I wouldn't go with the bigger size just for looks knowing that you would be mounting them on rims outside of the manufacturer's recommendations.

My $0.02 USD

OK I see your point JDM I did not realize he was keeping the stock wheels I figured since he said 16" rim he was going to be purchaseing new 16" rims. In that case I would not go with anything larger than the LT285/75/16 HOWEVER in saying that there are a lot of people out here who are running the 305 and even the 315's on the stock 7.5" rims. I myself would not do that since most of the tire manufactures recomend that for tires that size you go with at least and 8" wide rime.

I agree a 285/75/16 (33x11.5-16) on the stock rims is as big as the rim width will safely allow. Make sure you get a Load Range D (8 ply) minimum or preferable a Load Range E (10 ply) , E is what your stock tires are. The BFG AT comes in a 295/75/16 (33.5x11.6-16) that will also fit stock rims.
