31" tires and 4.10s

Anyone running 31" tires with 4.10 gear setup? If so, what is your impression on trans, performance, and durability...will your truck grow old gracefully or need major work before it should?

I'm running that setup right now. It's hurting my MPG and my RPMs are pretty high. Certainly slows me down on the highway. I'm fixin' to get 33's in a week or two.

UrbanCowboy,

Are you saying that 4.10s with 31" tires is only good for city driving? What do you mean by they slow you down on the highway? Are you not able to run 70-80 and pass with quick acceleration at those speeds? I don't want to go over 90 on my truck.

I think my top speed is like 75 but the RPMs run pretty high. I'd recommend larger tires with those gears. But I'm no expert.

I was thinking about going to a 32" tire but my 31s are practically new, so I am not in a hurry to get rid of them. I never knew a change in gears would affect your highway speed to the extent you described. Thanks for the info.
