Two questions here; what is the correct speedo gear for a 4.6 with 23570R16 tires vs 26570R17 tires. I want to make sure Ford gave me the correct gear. I've been told go by the color of the gear or # of teeth. Thanks.

 

Depends what the gear ratio is.... 3.08.... 3.55....3.73????

With 235 70 16 = 20 - C8SZ17271B Orange

With 265 70 17 = 18 - (not sure of part #) Gray

Hey, I just installed 265/70/17 tires on my'97 where I had 235/70/16 before. I have the 3.55 axle and my speedo gear WAS a 21 tooth. I replaced it with a 19 tooth. I have checked my speedo against hiway mile markers and it seems to be dead on. Not sure why yours would be different than mine.
