Hawk or EBC6000

Hey all, I have finally worn out the front pads and rotors on my truck and I am ordering my new components off of Tirerack.com. I am ordering the Brembo OEM replacement rotors but I am torn between the Hawk Superduty brake pads and the EBC 6000 Extra Duty pads. They both look like a great product but I do alot of towing/hauling and I want the best. If you can shed any light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
Josh

Hey Josh i was just looking at the Hakw brand couldnt get alot of info on them but they seem to be fairly good hoever anything is better than OEM.I am more than likely going to replace my rotors with the Power Slot Slotted Rotors and there pads as well since it is cheaper to get them than OEM. But i have also been thinking about upgrading the Calipers to a sloight performance upgrade becasue like you I tow .I tow a Wakeboard boat and have to go up and downa fairly hilly area when traveling to the lake so my brakes tend to get hot and i end up getting alot of fadeing in the brakes.SO i am looking and doing research now to see what is available for calipers with have to go with larger wheels, I would like to find a upgrade over OEM.

You can get the Power Slots at www.truckperformance.com

I have decided to go with the Brembo rotors and the EBC6000 pads. I searched the internet and found many good reviews for the EBC pads, so I went with them.

Thanks
Josh

Are the Brembo rotors slotted or drilled? Drilled rotors have a tendency to crack and warp because so much material is removed from them . That's why they don't cover drilled rotors aginst cracking and warping with a warranty. Just for info the Power Slot rotors cost less money at www.truckperformance.com

over TireRack by about 13.00 each

Richard D- the Brembos are an OEM replacement, they are not drilled or slotted. I replaced my stock rotors with the Powerslots last September and I am very happy with them. The didn't really improve the braking a lot. But the Powerslots completely eliminated front end shaking and brake fade. I must say that the braking actually seems to improve after the rotors are a bit warm. I think the Powerslot rotors were worth the extra money.

What brand of brake pads are you useing with the Powerslot Rotors? And i just figured if someone was getting Brembo they would be getting drilled rotors but i see after visiting Tirerack that they sell OEM, Drilled and Slotted. I am thinking about the powerslot rotors and the EBC or hawk pads since i tow a boat and my stock brakes get way hot and start to fade during the summer months .

I found something interesting on Powerslots website they recomend HAWK brake pads for use with there slotted rotors but don't specify which model. Another thing is that at www.truckperformance.com they sell Powerslot Pads so i am wondering if those are the HAWK pads that they stick there name on ? I can't find any brake pads on there site. Anyone with any info about this. Also does anyone know of a brand of brake calipers that are the same size as OEM but maybe a 4 piston design instead of 2 piston. I really would like to upgrade calipers but seems everything i find requires use of a 18" wheel or larger, also anyone know of Bradied Stainless Steel lines with OEM fit?

Found a few things out yesterday First of all e-mailed Powerslot and they recomended the HAWK HP Light Duty truck pads for my application since i tow a boat. Second thing is I called www.truckperformance.com and ordered the Powerslot Rotors and the guy tells me that the Powerlslot brand of pads they sell are HAWK's carbon Ferro Line and they just put the Powerslot name on them.So i ordered my pads from www.Tirerack.com and the Rotors from Truckperformance and they should both be here by the end of the week. I will install them next week to get ready for the boating season. I do have a question for anyone that may have an answer when reading the description of the HAWK pads on tireracks website it says although HAWK burnishes there brake pads before leaving the factory we recomend that proper (bedding in) is required I havent heard that term used so i would like to know exactly what that means.

Thanks,

Richard D. Her is an old pic when i was in Montery,CA a few years ago

I believe that "Bedding in" is another more technical term for "Breaking in" it is in reference as to how you use your new brakes in the first few hundred miles.

Search this forum for break in opinions.
