just get some 40 grit sandpaper for metal and go after the rotors in a circular motion..then when finished take a air gun and blow them off real good..don't forget the backsides, they're a challenge

Don't Do It!!!

Brakes are an energy conversion device. They change the kinetic energy of your truck in motion to thermal or 'heat' energy.

Your rotors are the heat sinks for that conversion. Most of the resultant heat goes into the rotors. To minimize brake fade as well as the chance future thermal cycles will warp the rotors, you want as much mass on the rotor as possible.

And one other reason...lining wear is much much greater at high temperatures than at low temps. Therefore with heavier (unturned) rotors your linings will last longer too, since the rotors will run cooler.

Good man!

Tell us how much remaining lining you had on the fronts as well as the rears, please.

Thanks.

Smile Pads

2mm left on the rear and about 3mm on the front.

I always get the rotors turned. A good shop will not take off much metal and I've NEVER had any "brake pulsing" problems on any of my vehicles since I started getting rotors turned.

On the 2wd F150 it is also a good chance to repack the front wheel bearings.

Sheeeesh....I've never changed pads on these trucks. My 97 and 2000 both had 85K then I traded them. Both had original pads. Neither of them pulsed. Maybe someday..............
