Let me first say I drive a 2000 F-150 XLT supercab 4x4 with stock 16" wheels and 235/70/16 tires (YUK)

After 1-1/2 years, I am getting tired of driving the truck stock and am getting ready to take the plunge (hopefully by summer) and get some new wheels and tires. I am going Friday to pick up step bars to prepare for the height change.

ANYWAY, I have narrowed the wheels down to either Eagle Alloys "146" or American Racing "Python" in a 16x8 polished with either Goodyear Wrangler MT/R or Pro Comp AT tires in a 305/70/16. I am looking for any pros/cons to each wheel/tire.

Also, since it is a 2000, I know I need to recalibrate the speedo VIA the computer. I found this the other day:

Does anyone have any experience with this product? Does this price seem reasonable?

I am planning on having the truck for quite some time, so I want to take an extra effort now to make sure things are running correctly from the start.

Nitto makes an A/T 305/16 called the Terra Grappler. Their resonably priced an have an aggressive tread design. I've had them on my truck for about 4 mos. now and I love 'em

Just thought id throw in my 2 cents since I know how pricy GY MT's and the PRO COMPS can be...

I just got done changing my original 255/70-16 tires on my 1997 F150 to the new Firestone Destination tires. I jumped to a 285/75-16. They look great and have hardly any road noise. They have a super looking tread pattern. There is plenty of clearance. I have to change the spedo gear to recalibrate the speedometer, which is easy.

 

I have been running a set of 285/75/16 Bridgestone Dueler AT's for about 3 years now and I love them. They have an aggressive tread pattern and sidewall and are really durable.

 

I have 305's(goodyear at/s tires) with 16 rims. You well have to adjust your torrision bars for gigger tires. Torrsion bar adjustment are very easy to do. Your truck well look very nice after you install tires and rims/lift.

Do you go off road at all? Don't see much snow in KY? Get the MT if you play off road otherwise get an AT.
