Why do my brakes still make noise?
I just had new pads and rotors put on my truck not too long ago. They started sqealing when ever I stopped. So then I pull the pads and greased every greasable part on the caliper and pad, they stopped for a little bit now they do it again. I used synthetic grease too, any ideas? pads are Mighty, and the rotors are Autozone brand I reckon.
yes there is a goop that is supposed to be put on the backs of the pads to prevent squeeling. It seems like the only color I have seen it in is blue. It is kinda like rubber cement(I can't think of anything better for comparison)You smear it on the back of the pads, wait for it to dry,and then install the new pads. This no squeek stuff dries kinda rubbery.I have always done the brakes on my vehicles. Its not that hard to do and saves money.

Brake noise is a very challenging 'feature' which causes great heartburn for those in the industry.
When you change ANYTHING, you risk noise somewhere.
Without going into a big narrative (search on my username in the brakes forum for one), you can often shotgun a (temporary) fix by refacing your rotors.
Most experts would advise liveing with minor noise and thick rotors than no noise and thin rotors. Use your judgement about whether it is merely an annoyance or indication of something wrong -- and go from there.
