Just some info:

The Hollister dirt bike riding area (lower ranch) and the 4x4 area (upper ranch) are about 6 miles apart and in no way connected.

Well, I fixed the Toyota. Yep, I replaced the head gasket with a 1991 Wrangler YJ.

It isn't much yet, but it will work for now... at least it's a 4.0/5spd

Now all it needs is:

1). larger axles* (*larger than the OEM toothpicks)
2). deep gearing, like 4.88 or 5.13
3). spring over axle
4). 4:1 transfer case conversion
5). slip yoke eliminator
6). custom CV rear drive-shaft with double cardan joint
7). custom front drive-shaft
8). extended roll cage
9). suspension seats and 4pt harnesses
10). selectable lockers, either Ox or ARB
11). different tires (these Swamper TSL-SX suck)
12). winch, upgraded alternator and all that stuff
13). okay, it needs just about everything... but it runs and wheels great for it is.

What it has:
- 33x15.50-15 Super Swamper TSL-SX bias ply tires on ugly 15x12 steel rims
- 2" PA body lift
- 3" Pro Comp suspension (rides worse than a circa 1865 covered wagon)
- 6" TJ fender flares
- a really nice M/T 15x10 spare rim
- home-made front and rear bumpers
- rear track bar removed
- 2 different Hi-Lift jack mount/carrying points
- a box full of recovery gear

Not bad. Ive been toying with the idea of upgrading my dd or getting a more dedicated off road rig(single cabs are not good for hauling people or stuff). Might compromise with an 80s or 90s bronco. The problem with jeeps is if you go big you gota replace/upgrade alot of stuff. However the aftermarket support for them is almost scary big.

Tornadom, does this mean you will be able to make it out?

Looks like a pretty good sized group so far:

Tornadom?

That's 9 rigs if Tornadom is able to make it. And i get the feeling MT will end up bringing another truck or two with him.

MT- can any of ur buddies or the pirate guys go? maybe we should start a thread on pirate
I think it should work. I am definitely game. Sounds like more people are up for it this time too.

I'll try and get some guys to come out. A pirate thread wouldn't be bad idea. I'll start one tomorrow, or piggy back off another thread. Good call.

Ive never been to Hollister, so whats the deal? Separate places for bikes and 4x4s, what about quads? I wont have time to go up to the ranch and tow down my old '77 chevy with lockers and i wont be taking the F150 on any extreme trails since its my DD. I'll just ride along w/ someone if need be.

oh and James, nice timing on that last post.

Msall- my truck is my 2wd DD so I defiantly wont be going on any crazy trails, no worries

msall150 - I think quads are able to ride the same area as dirt bikes, but I don't know if they are allowed in the 4x4 park or not.

As for my attendance I am still a "maybe". I requested that day off today, but I have a few weeks of vacation time starting on the 28th, so I don't know if they will grant me that day off or not. I will let you guys know as soon as I do.

As for my nice spare rim... it's a nice looking Mickey Thomson rim, looks to be a 15x10. Don't most cars have fancy aluminum rims on the car and a crappy steel one as the spare? I seem to have that bass-ackwards.

You can kind of see the spare rim/tire here. Parked next to an '02 TJ on 31's (1" spring spacers)

Ya no quads in the 4x4 areas, but they do alow side by sides. Don't worry about beating up your truck. That's the beauty of Hollister, there are plenty of trails of varying difficulty. The only thing you may have to worry about are scratches from brush on the trails. If that still bothers you, you are more than welcome to ride with me. They also put in a new obstacle course that is geared more toward less extreme trucks. Here's vid i put together of my buddy's stock blazer last time we went, as you can see all can have a great time:
