Think Before You Chat

There's a thread out on the "General Discussion" forum titled "Thread Topics We'd Like To Never See Again". It should be mandatory reading before you register. If you haven't read it, I'd recommend that you do before you start your next thread. It may save you some embarassment. Here's a couple of example:

Example #1. My 4.6L just beat a 5.4L......

Example #2. What's your gas milage? I get 33.5 pulling my boat and ATV's.

Think before you chat,
Regards - Remo

I would like to dedicate this time out of my day to cordially thank remo for his insightful comment. Unfourtunately it has no meaning for me.
P.S.- example 1 has happened to me. I did happen to beat a 2002 Ford F-350 Dually with the 5.4 auto with my 1/2 ton 4.6 one day when we raced from a stoplight. It is a city maintence truck and my boss thought it might be cute if he wanted to race one day coming back from lunch. He was wrong.
Thank you again for your helpful tips.
Sincerely,
Green_98

The 4.6/Manual is faster than the 5.4/Auto.

Well how about my 4.2 beating an L?

Well that actually happen when I pulled up next to a parked L and tried to race. I rev'ed the motor and gave him the signal and then I was off! I won by a landslide! Couldn't even see him in my mirrors when I backed of

As I said I was lucky enough to pull up to a PARKED L. If there was a driver in it, the race would have been close.

Well It Didn't Take Long - Did It?

See what I mean? It took no time at all and people are bickering over nothing. I guess I'll have to give some more examples of "threads we NEVER want to see again".

Example #1. Can I tow 12,000 lbs. with my 4.6L 5-speed F150?

Example #2. Will the dealer void my warranty if I install a Votech, a pulley kit and some headers?

Example #3. I just beat an F14 Tomcat with my new SVT Lighting - I'm not kidding.

Regards - Remo

Somewhat agree

Remo,

I somewhat agree with you. I've been guilty of a couple myself, but usually not as silly as those. I think if your a new member here it may take awhile to get used to the site. It took me awhile to figure out the search function. Now I try and do a search on a topic before I post a question. But sometimes the search only goes so far and you need to post a question or problem.

I'd say look at the subject line and don't waste your time on it if it doesn't interest you.

Oh yeah...definately don't race Neal. I've seen the video!!!

Response to JBRIII

Thanks for the reponse. Just so we're clear about the examples I used - yes they were silly. But they were used to make a point. On the other hand you have to admit they come pretty close to "actual" threads.

By the way. I noticed that you are a Senior Member. What criteria does this site use for catagorizing members?

Thanks for your help - Remo

Actually, no...the remainder of the interior warranty would still be in effect.

And as for Racing Neal.....you got to be kidding me, not unless I need to be made to feel like less of a man, that is less then I already do.

Status

Remo,

I believe it's number of posts. 100 if I'm not mistaken puts you into senior member status.

I think your point is well taken and I'm sure most all here agree. As to how to limit it or stop it, there's probably not a way other than to ignore them and hopefully they'll go away if no one responds.

John

All kidding aside, you do have a valid point. The amount of garbage (see my last reply) seems to get in the way of of posts with useful information. However without those other posts, we lose a lot of opinion and humor. If we just posted facts, we might as well just read the service manuals for our trucks.

Another thing is that some people really don't know very simple things about our trucks or vehicles in general. Not long ago there was a post from someone who wanted to know if the F 150 was front wheel drive. So for example someone does want to tow 12000 lbs with his F 150, I want to be the first to tell him "no, you can't easily move the load and you definately can't stop it once its moving". Otherwise I will probably be the guy that gets T boned in an intersection when he tries to stop for a red light while towing his 12,000 lbs !

About member ship status - you become a "Member" @ 30 posts and "Senior Member" @ 100.

I do use the search option when I have a problem but will also post the question. This is an evolving and learning forum. Many find new and better answers to problems every day.
Stupid is stupid but a valid question is welcome.
