Is that a spark plug sticking out of your hood, or are you just glad to see me ?

Hey Navi man,
Do you work for ford ?
It's amazing you come up with .01%
and your looking for a spread sheet to evaluate the problem.

Listen!!!!
Quit acting like a ****less little twerp. No I don't work for Ford and I didn't come up with the number .01%. If you would actually read the posts instead of proving how ****less you are by coming on here and attacking people, you might actual bring some value to this discussion.
.
Where in that quote did I say I came up with that number? If you're such a know it all, then tell me how many Ford engines have had this problem and how many engines has Ford produced in that time? I honestly don't know, but I'll definitely be waiting for your answer on this one.
Yes, it would be nice to see all the information be put together to see if there is any common ground. Putting documented numbers in one place is better than posts spread throughout the internet and becomes a more powerful tool to take to Ford. I have mentioned many times in my posts, that I see this as a problem in the Ford engine, so I have no idea what your problem is.
For all the people that have had to endure this problem, I empathize with you. For syncmaster, it seems maybe you got what you deserve. Go bother somebody else. You're about as productive as a snail in a Taco Bell kitchen.

I think somebody calculated it out to be less than .01% of all engines Ford has sold

Personal attacks and name calling are not tolerated on this site. If you want to continue this discussion as mature adults, you are welcome to do so. Anymore of the name calling and the thread will be closed.
I have no problem with that. This thread was going fine until syncmaster decided to personally attack me. This forum is a great place until people like him come on here and ruin it. My apologies to the rest of the forum users.

Alright Naviman.....what have you gotten yourself into now?....LMAO.
Maybe it's time to see if you can sign up a few members to that club ya told me about a month or so ago....LOL.
Rocks
Aside from poking a stick at Naviman, I did want to throw a speculative guess into the equation.
I have noticed that with most of the blown plug threads, the poster had changed the plugs or had them changed.
Now according to my Chilton(my Bible), we have to be real darned careful when putting in new plugs not to cross thread them. It even gives a few hints on starting the plug without using a socket. It goes even further in cautioning about using swivels and extensions when taking them out or tightening them.
I am not excusing Ford with what I am about to say, just pointing out something that may be contributing to the problem.
I can't help but wonder how many folks have sealed their own fate while changing plugs or having someone else do it.

Hi all,
Naviman, it would be nice if you could refrain from perpetuating that claim (saying that the incidence of blown plugs is 0.01%), since you quoted it as if there was some credible basis for it's derivation, i.e. a fact.
I think I pretty clearly showed in another thread how the logic someone named "Gopher" used in coming up with that figure was pretty sophomoric, an embarrassing effort even for a junior-high-school statistics student.....
I don't know the odds of any one F-150 experiencing a blown plug, but remember that have never claimed to know that, or offered any guesses (to either dramatize or downplay the odds). I've always maintained that determining the magnitude of the problem is the job of those who have access to the repair data, i.e. FoMoCo.

Another thing to consider, we are reading posts on these forums, and trying to determine how many people have a blown plug. I looked on one thread and I counted 50. But I think 90% of the people that have a blown plug would NOT go on the internet and seek out these forms and post it.
think about this: If this problem is such a small percentage , why didn't ford say "this is a unusual failure and we will stand behind out product and cover repair costs" . If it's such a small percentage It wouldn't have cost them much.
Instead they are hiding... won't answer complaints...... won't even say yes we are looking into it.

Thanks for the advice feefer, but everybody is a big boy on this forum and can decipher information for themselves. My point was merely trying to give a person some confidence that buying a Ford truck isn't as risky as some have made it out to be on this forum. Nobody has come up with any concrete numbers so it's open to speculation as to what the percentage is.
Rocks,
Good hearing from you again. Hey, don't know what happened on this thread. Syncmaster decided to blindside me because I was trying to offer support to a potential Ford truck owner. I guess he took offense to that and decided to make it personal.
I can't help but wonder how many folks have sealed their own fate while changing plugs or having someone else do it.
You better be careful with that statement. You're liable to get blindsided like me. Although I agree this could be a problem for some of them, I don't think any of them want to admit that.
On a more serious note, I haven't received your membership dues yet. Do I have to pull your charter membership?
Anyway, I'll behave for now on.

Feefer, I don't appreciate being called sophmoric. I provided information that you have not. End of story, no matter how simple the number provided may be. You continue to run around and tell everyone who will listen that the sky is falling and everyone will have a plug blow out. Funny how you never answered any of my queries for any numbers of folks on this board or totals of folks with the problem. I even offered you my list of individual names. You took me up on none of those offers. I would be interested in seeing a number based on your extensive work on this issue.
Please, provide some real numbers based on your extensive research into this problem, and maybe other folks will agree that the sky is falling at that point.
Funny how all your posts are on this one issue only...

I think your missing a very important point. It dosen't matter how many ford trucks blow their spark plugs. If one ford truck goes into a ford dealership with a blown plug, FOMO should have been allover it. They should have said to the dealer:
"make this guy a offer he can't refuse on a new truck I want that truck to disect"
PLUGS DON'T BLOW OUT OF CYLINDER HEADS IF INSTALLED BY QUALIFIED MECHANICS. IF THEY ARE .... THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM HERE!!!
Ford has built a reputation over the years "built ford tough"
and they are letting that go down the toilet when they choose not to deal with this spark plug issue.
I don't care if it's one or ten or a thousand I want them to stand behind their product.

I thought I would repeat it, I liked it so much.
By the way, lets get real about one issue at least. ford does not give anyone a hard time if their truck is under warranty. It is the folks dragging their trucks in after warranty is expired that catch a problem...as they should.
