Rough idle for 15 seconds
Hello All,
This morning on the way to work my truck 1998 F150 5.4 L started running rough. I had been driving about 20 minutes and the rough idle only lasted about 15 second but it was real rough, I even put it in neutral so it wouldn't stall. I changed the plugs about 900 miles ago. Anyone have an idea what happened??

When my IAC fouled I did not get a check engine light. It did exactly as you described. You can check if the IAC is the problem easy enough. Next time the truck won't idle, hit the IAC a few times. If it is the problem, tapping it will unstick it and the truck will idle on it's own.
