Lightbulb Head Swap

Have any of you '96-'98 4.6L & 5.4L guys considered the '01-up Performance Improved (PI) cylinder head swap? In 1999 Ford introduced the PI cylinder heads on all 4.6L & 5.4L engines. The advances in these cylinder heads were worth an additional 55 horsepower on the 4.6L 2V Mustang ('98 205hp/'99 260hp).

The Mustang guys have been doing this for a while now with great results. Check out www.corral.net/forums Do a search in the GT / SOHC forum for "Head Swap" for more info on the Mustangs. If these guys can do this, why cant the '96-'98 truck guys enjoy the added horsepower too?

Actually, from what I've read it's not just a matter of swaping the heads out. You will also need to change the intake as well to accomodate the new style heads. If you do a search on this there has been much discussion surrounding this topic.

You are correct. On the Mustang you change heads, intake, water line under the intake, and gaskets. Usually you can do the entire swap for less than $1200.00 bucks....
