2003 Engine Whine
Doug S,
Great news - congratulations.
Can you tell me the name of your dealer so that I may get more info on the broad cast message (service bulletin) they used? I want to give that same info to my dealer so they can fix mine.

Same here. Mine is louder than I think it should be (although the dealer didn't think so). When I took it in I told them about the "broadcast message" but they weren't able to find anything. If you could get some info for us it would sure help out.
Yes, I'll see what I can find out.
That message that my dealer was talking about might have just came to them. After I posted my last message here, I stopped by to tell the service manager that everything was still sounding good. He had mentioned that he had been working with the service rep and an engineer aquantance (sp?) at FMC when he "got the message to try this fix". So maybe the message was just to him, but I'll find out.
By the way, the dealer is Wadsworth Ford in Wadsworth, Ohio, and the service manager is great.

RickM46 & G8RDave,
I finally talked to my service manager, (sorry it took so long) and he did say that he was working direct with "Ford" on my problem and the message he got was for him directly.
What he said your dealer needs to do is "re-time the power steering pump", which allows more fluid to flow through the pump. He said if your dealer looks in his "books", (I assume he means the service manuals), there is a procedure on how to do this.
Mine is still "whine" free!
