Need to vent...
I just want to get on here and vent and tell all of you, especially if you live in Minnesota...DO NOT ever take your truck/vehicles to Metropolitan Ford in Eden Prairie, MN. The ** **** stupid ******* over filled my engine with oil, spraying oil all over the compartment of my nice, new, anally taken care of 2002 F150, left the dipstick part way out and were going to let me leave with the engine compartment like that....opened the hood to check the oil level at the dealer and that is when I noticed the overspray...went in and bitched and told them to clean up the oil and MAKE SURE THE OIL LEVEL WAS CORRECT!!! Got the truck back....half-assed cleaned in the engine compartment, but they did a nice job on the exterior, I was in a hurry, took off trusting that they had verified the correct 6 quart oil level in my 5.4, you know...no biggy...after about an hour of driving and 21.9mls later...I got home and had time to check the oil level....about 1-2 inches above the MAX mark and the guage reads slightly high also. The stupid **** never verified it and to top it off they ******** charged me for 7 ******* quarts of oil and the ** **** cab smells like burnt oil BIG TIME!!!
She is being towed to the dealership tomorrow and I am not leaving till I am satisifed....unless you have a mech you trust-check your levels or do it yourself.
Good Luck all and thanx for letting me bitch!

That's the big reason that I don't trust many places to change my oil. The local dealer here in Danville is Blue Oval Certified, and they do excellent work, so I do trust them. Otherwise, I do it myself for the above stated reasons.

Yeah I know what you mean when it comes to taking care of my truck also. When the dealer replaced my oil after fixing a oil pan leak on my 2002 5.4L S'cab it was at the top mark on the stick and when I change it myself and fill with 6 bottles of Ford oil it only comes to the middle of the hash marks. I guess thats what you get when a young guy is starting out as a automotive/ truck mechanic and is trying to keep his job by trying to meet flat rate times and he does not have the time to study the shop manuals or TSB's. FLAT RATE SUCKS!!!
Well anyway hope they make your truck right with you, work it easy with the shop mananger and every thing should be OK.

That's exactly why I started doing my own oil changes myself. In my case they put the wrong oil filter on my sister's Toyota Celica. Blew oil all over the engine compartment. After cleaning it up and giving her a coupon for a free oil change, her computer went out the following morning costing her quite a bit of money. I've seen them fill my tires to 60lbs of pressure (depsite the maximum being 40 because as the 'mechanic' said "all 17" rims need atleast 60 lbs of pressure.) The last time I had my oil changed a couple years ago they swore my transmission fluid was extremely burnt and needed to be flushed when I had just had the tranny flushed the week before. I guess it's hard to get good help..........
Thanx for the support so far guys...got the truck back to day...they totally redid the oil change, completely detailed the engine compartment and waxed and detailed the exterior and my next 2 oil changes are free and I guess, according to Ford, 1 quart over won't really doing anything, you got to get up in to the 2-4 quart range to start seeing any damage.
Thanx again..

I don't think it's possible to find a dealership service dept that consistantly performs to our expectations.
I've had some serious problems with Superior Ford in Plymouth, myself . A few months ago, they blew an intake gasket and didn't notice so I ended up leaking coolant into the oil for a few days. When I called the dealership to ask them to pay for the tow because I'd found coolant in the cranskcase: They tech became defensive and demanded to know what I was doing, checking the oil on a freshly serviced engine
Sure... I run the engine a few more days and it falls apart = dealer pays for a new engine. I check my oil for coolant. Stop driving the truck and have it towed = dealer reduces labor fee for replacement of blown gasket.
Beyond this: they scratched off an emission sticker during the service and have yet to replace it. I also found that they only used 5qts of oil during both procedures that also included a filter change. Ford calls for 6.5-7qts with filter change on my engine.
I don't know if they become more responsible after you catch their mistakes or not.

That is a bummer AJ...I was going to start going to Superior instead of Metropolitan...I had a brake job done on a 92 F150 there about a year ago and they did exactly as I told them cause I only wanted what needed to be fixed fixed becasue I was looking at the '02's and the service manager was very honest on informing about the 02's...about the blown head or #2 cylinder on the 5.4's at around 80k. I also had some warranty paint work done by them becasue I did not want metro touching it because they take their warranty paint work to a Chevy dealer, anyway...Superior did a perfect job on the paint and treated me like I spent 30k on a truck and not like a hindrance to them. Do not know what to do now...maybe things just happen and all dealerships have their flaws and we have to go with the flow.
Thanx for the tip though..I will definitely keep it in my mind.

I think my problems can all be traced back to one particular technician. There were other problems as well but I only listed a few of those that I can prove happened while at their dealership.
I probably will return there for service. I just won't allow 2nd shift to do the work any longer.
There are certain times when you need to bring your truck in for dealer service. Times when you have warrantry work put you at the mercy of the Ford techs and all you can do is hope they care enough to be thorough.

FWIW, If I've needed dealership service here in the Twin Cities, Boyer Ford Trucks in Minneapolis has treated me well - and they only work on trucks, so they know these babys like the back of their hand!
Often times, you are at the mercy of the service writer. They might send your truck to the worst mechanic in the place or they might send it to the best. It all depends on who they get to fix your truck.
If you're lucky and you're a good customer, your truck will always go to their top mechanics.
It's the same thing when you go to a large Chinese restaurant. The best chefs prepare the foods for the best customers. The new chefs prepare the foods for rest.
