SVT models

Hold up a second, dumber???? It was a very educated question, not just the Lightnings are SVT for one thing. And I have seen models called Sport models or something like that, that has the SVT logo on it.
All I'm wondering is: when I see non Lightining SVT's what size liter engines can I expect them to have?
ONLY 5.4 or are some 4.6 SVT's!!!!

AFAIK (and I am sure that someone else will jump in here if I am wrong) the only production SVT vehicle that is NOT a car is the Lightning, and they all have the 5.4. Any truck you see with SVT badging that isn't a Lightning, in all likelihood is not an SVT vehicle.

So my friend who bought a sport model F150 truck with the black honey comb grille, is in fact just a plain 5.4? Even though it has SVT badges and he bought it from a Ford Dealership in Hawaii, it could be an imposter SVT???
Come on now, I've seen other F150 trucks with SVT badges that were in fact not Lightning models....are you telling me they all went out and bought SVT badges and threw them on their trucks? ha ha ha! My V6 is going to stomp allover these non-supercharged fake SVT's!!!
I can't wait to stomp all over my friends fake SVT.
please, no offense to anyone though.

You can buy the SVT badging on E-BAY or from the dealer.
Many F-150'ers are putting them on their truck for the looks.
I put lightning headlights on my truck but it's not a lightning.

The SVT Contour had a 2.5L, 195hp V6, I believe. I had a '97, 2.0 Sport, and at the time considered getting an SVT. Good little cars! That 2.0 ZTEC, with the 5-speed, was no slouch.
It's not the badging that sets the SVT's apart from the rest, it's the engineered performance. I think it was one of Fords wisest moves!
The Lightning has many distinctive features. Under the hood, in the cab, and the badging.

we are all now dumber now having read that.
You act like you were born knowing everything and never have to ask questions. In reality, I hope you aren't that ignorant. Please have more respect than to criticize the pursuit of knowledge. If you do you criticize everbody on this forum.

thanks space12321:
you know, it's probably an ignorant question to begin with, but you know what? I'm probably ignorant, only because I am trapped in my 2002 F150 4.2L engine world! ya baby!
but like I said before, I seem to see a couple of these F150's with the black honeycombe grille saying SVT on it. Or is it STX???
anyways, so I guess it's solved.....F150 SVT's are only Lightnings, right?! Even the HD isn't actually an SVT, right?
Or it seems that SVT is a group that hooks up certain vehicle models, could it have been that SVT made a sport edition with the black honeycombe grille that was SVT inspired?
anyone else, any comments are welcomed!

I have an 01 XLT Sport 2wd, 4.2 5-speed. It does have the "sport" decal but no SVT badges on it. So it may be possible if you see a "sport" that the SVT is just that a badge bought somewhere. However, some people have thought my truck was a Lighting, because of the flareside, honeycomb grill (that is standard) and the 17" alum wheels. Then again those people don't know Fords that well either. The other reason I think some, only a few have mistaken my truck for a lighting is the front end sits about 3/4" to 1" lower then the rear and that is how it came. Some ask how much it cost me to lower it and I tell them it was about $20,000
By the way it was a good question you asked and like someone else said an SVT is engineered for performance. An SVT is not determine by the engine size, or we with the 4.2 6-cyn's would be considered an SVT before a 4-banger...

Don't worry about people who think this is a dumb question. If you don't know, and you don't ask, then you don't know. Now you know! Most of your fellow F150 Online-er's would rather educate you than insult you.
To learn mor about the Special Vehicle Team, you might want to check this out, http://www.svt.ford.com/flash/index.html , if you haven't already.
You mentioned something about the STX. The STX was an appearance group offered on the F150 in '98. It's supposed to give the aggressive look of a 4X4, on a 4X2. I believe it came with the 4.2 or the 4.6. I've seen them in reg cab and x-tra cab, style side and flare side. They did come with the honeycomb grill. Here is a pic of mine.

Is this like what you've seen?
