plug killer

Mine has been in twice now for a "coolant leak" that killed the coils on some plugs and subsequently put the corresponding cylinders out of commission. First time it was numbers three and four on warranty. Second time it was just number four and the dealer cut me a break (which makes me happy but also wary) on the repair on the grounds that four had already gone once (and I belly-ached). Service guy said this is not a "common" problem but that it "does and can happen at any time". This sound fishy to anyone out there? Anybody else experienced this? Comments/help?

I know this is a problem with some Lightning owners, although I have not had it happen to me.

The problem seems to be that the coolant hose over passenger side #4 plug leaks on the coil pack and causes it to burn out.

Naturally, the freakin' hose is back there under the cowl in a spot almost impossible to get at. Also notice...no damn clamps on the hose where it fits over the metal elbow.

Seems to me that:

#1: Doesn't the dealer warranty the fixes? If so, they owe you a free new coil pack.

#2: Did they address the root cause of the problem, namely the leaking coolant hose??????? If not, it's just gonna keep happening.

If it was me, I'd put a stainless, screw-type hose clamp on the hose and tighten the **** out of it and see if that stops the leaking.

My '97 does not have the problem, either.
