V6 to V8 swap?
V6 to V8 swap?
How hard would it be to swap out a V6 for a V8 (5.4).
I don't really want to get rid of my truck, so in a couple years I was thinking of just upgrading.
I have 1997 F150. I appreciate any advice.

Let me try to be simple and gentle here - Don't even think about it. You're going to hear from a number of other well informed individuals that simply changing the engine really requires changing a whole bunch of other stuff (like computers, etc.) and it just isn't worth the effort. You're better off enjoying what you have or trading for what you really need. Sorry.
Not to mention wiring harnesses, accessories and brackets. Also when you take it in for service they will frown because they never know which parts to use on a hybrid vehicle, which vin numbers to punch in to read the computer codes, etc. Heres a pic of my swap on a pre-97. I don't want to imagine the wiring on a post 97 MAF system.

Speaking from personal experience, 2stroked is right, you will spend more money and time than if you just traded it for what you want.

Unfortunately, 1965 is a long time ago. Back then, engine swaps were an exercise in new engine and trans mounts, modified control linkages and driveshaft modifications. Not very hard to do if you have selected the right engine to swap into the right car. I had a few uncles who specialized in swapping small-block Chevys into early-Sixtie's Chevy II's. Not too difficult.
Today? Unless you have $$$$, and select a popular swap that is supported by the aftermarket (wiring harnesses, etc.) be prepared for a long downtime for your truck and about 1.5 million headaches, most of which can only be remedied with even more cash.
